Finding locations (2012-08-04)

Before we could start filming, we needed to find
locations where the epic intro battle could be filmen, but
mostly we had to find the main location for the movie.

Robin (to the right) knew a place that would he thought would be perfect for the movie.
We had to venture deep into the woods, and we brought the cameras for some location screen tests.
Once we got there, it felt very empty, and almost haunting.
We knew that we had found the perfect location.
this spot in the forest was like a haunted place. Somewhere you wouldn't want to be alone.
We screen tested some video shots, to see how the background would look.
but we already knew that the place was perfect. There were no people there. And we knew we
would have privacy there.
We instead focused on different and interesting perspectives.
We wanted to see if it was possible to try different looks from normal movies.
Robin also showed another location, where there was a abandoned old and rusty car.
Tommy (the director) thought it was exellent and was really excited about the place.
It felt almost like if this place was tailor made for our needs.
Robin tried this thing, where he would attach a smaller camera (samsung WB2000) to get it to different perspectives.
We really tried all sorts of perspectives.
Robin as always has many creative ideas.
In a way he was our cinematographer.
Sometimes his ideas would fly wild to the point, where the directors job was to put out the fire.
Still without Robins ideas,
and the directors vision.
we would not have the movie that we have at our hands now.
A forest is basically just trees and leaves. But the presence is everything.
the notion, the feeling that of being alone. Completely alone.
And that was the main idea of the movie. The central theme, alone on earth.
Robin gives his thumbs up!
and the main location for the movie was found.
