Premiere viewing 30/12 2013

So the premiere finally took off.
I invited the crew of AgnosCinema. Robin, Dave and Mark. I also had Mathias there, who
did a soundtrack and did a short part in the movie. The day before the viewing, I sat 20 hours (!) in front of my poor mac mini and rendered a lot of film.

It was a lot of hard work, but now it is finally finished. The two year project is almost over. The movie is finished.

Sitting a exporting a two hour movie is just absolutely horrifying.
Consider that you have no idea how to keep all those scenes in your
head. You have to take a lot of notes, and try to remember what you
have to finish etc.

The mac mini has a quad core i7 processor. But it took a lot of power rendering each scene. For every 10 min, it would take about 45 minutes to render out to a quicktime file. And sometimes I had to redo the rendering because I had forgotten something.

I also had Sara do the voice over for the prologue. The result was great.

How long was the film?
Well, it turned out to be 02h:00min:32s
which is probably to long. But this is the theatrical release.
And it will have to do.

The movie viewing

So how was the reaction of the crew?

They loved it.

My reaction watching the movie was that there was some ruff editing, and the dialogs did not work that well quality wise in every scene. The best thing I could do would be to do some voice overs to replace the original voices.

But we all probably want to move on to new projects.

Is this the final version?

I could spend a eternity trying to fix each scene.
But I feel that there are so many cinematography flaws that it isn't worth
the struggle. I'm not giving up, but sometimes you have to realize that a project
is gonna get more oscars just because you fix it more and more.

I will however save a unedited cut of the movie without music and sounds and effects.
And some day I will create a remastered version. Uphoted effects, perhaps do voice overs.

So what is left?
Well, there is the documentary still. I have interviewed each actor, just haven't interviewed myself yet. And I was also thinking about having a couple of "how to - tutorials" in regards to this movie. But we will see.

last scene reshot 2013-08-18

When we were shooting the last scene, we were so tired, after having shot so many scenes.
So after looking the "dailes", we realized that we needed to reshoot the last scene.
Obviously the result was worth it.

Behind the scenes 2013-08-13

The movie is finally finished. But of course some b-rolls and extra shots were filmed. Like here are a few photos from two flashback scenes we filmed. Enjoy.

Last day of shooting 2013-08-04

So in order to secure the movie, we did a double weekend. And here are some photos from the last day of principal photography (all we have left is some b-roll, and some additional flashback scenes, and the intro shots).

But basically, the amazing news today is that the movie is finally finished. What we have now, can be edited into a full movie. The bad news however is that it will take at least 6 months to edit.
